SUBCULTURES

France has many subcultures, currently there are some with greater growth than others, for example:

The villeculteurs: people who belong to this subculture have a great passion for urban agriculture. They do not intend to ensure the self-sufficiency of cities, urban agriculture fulfills other essential functions for the construction of the city of tomorrow: environmental, social and educational functions.

Los natures sur mesure: these French want to leave the city to go green and change their lives in a radical way. Adopting new, more natural consumption behaviors.

FRANCE VS COLOMBIA

When comparing Colombian culture with French culture through the Hofstede Model, it is possible to affirm:

1. POWER DISTANCE: both countries accept that power is unequally distributed.

2. INDIVIDUALISM: Colombia has a lower degree of interdependence among its citizens than France.

3. MASCULINITY: Colombians are motivated to want to be the best and French people tend to like what they do.

4. AVOIDANCE OF UNCERTAINTY: in both countries people feel threatened by ambiguous or unknown situations and have created beliefs and institutions that try to avoid them.

5. LONG-TERM ORIENTATION: The French have to maintain some ties with their own past while facing the challenges of the present and the future, Colombians do not need to.

6. INDULGENCE: Colombians try to control their desires and impulses. The French do it too, but to a lesser extent.

FRANCE'S LEWIS MODEL

The Lewis model classifies people into three models:

  • Active linear people, do one thing at a time, put a lot of focus on it, and do it within a scheduled period of time. These people think that this way they are more efficient and do more.
  • Reactive or listening cultures rarely initiate actions or discussions, preferring to first listen and establish the other's position, then react and formulate their own.
  • Multi-active people have big emotional plans, they tend to do many things at once, they also have unlimited body language and are constantly searching for the key person.

In my opinion the French belong to the group of multi-active people since they coincide with most of the characteristics of this model.

FRANCE'S GENDER STEREOTYPES

The gender stereotype that most catches my attention is the one that says that French women are easy. I think it must be totally false. It is true that they have a reputation for dressing very fashionable and being very romantic, but it is also motivated because French is a very sexy language and it makes them seem sweeter with men. But not all French women are like that.

French men have a reputation for being good lovers. They are very adorable, affectionate and very sweet. Although in reality, they are like men from all countries in the world, they have different personalities and some match with this gender stereotype, but other men do not match with this description.
